Keele University Hydeploy

Keele University Hydeploy

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

HyDeploy is a pioneering energy demonstration to establish the potential for blending hydrogen, up to 20%, into the normal gas supply so that we can reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. A year-long live pilot of blended gas will take place on part of the Keele gas network from Autumn 2019. HyDeploy will help to determine the level of hydrogen which can be used by customers safely and with no changes to their existing domestic appliances.

Keele University is ideally placed to host the HyDeploy project. It has:

1. its own private gas network
2. a campus population similar to a small town
3. an international reputation for research excellence
4. a commitment to developing a carbon free future through its Smart Energy Network Demonstrator Project (SEND)

We have been given the go ahead from the HSE for a 10 month live demonstration of blended hydrogen and natural gas beginning in Autumn 2019
